Terraced three-bay two-storey house, built c.1885, having recessed entrance to front (south) elevation and two-storey return to rear. M-profile pitched artificial slate roof having moulded red brick eaves course to front elevation, and red and brown brick chimneystacks having clay chimney pots. Red brick walls laid in Flemish bond to front elevation having yellow brick quoins to west end, and cut granite plinth course. Rendered walls to east elevation. Segmental-headed window openings to ground floor having bull-nosed red brick reveals, with square-headed window openings to first floor, having cut granite sills and replacement uPVC windows. Round-headed opening to porch having chamfered yellow brick voussoirs and bull-nosed red brick reveals. Recessed square-headed door opening with painted timber surround, timber panelled door and cut granite threshold. Front garden enclosed by cast-iron railings on cut granite plinths, with decorative gate posts, gate removed.
This house retains much of its Victorian form and character and subtle brick detailing which adds decorative interest to the front elevation. The front garden boundary remains largely intact, maintaining the early suburban character of the streetscape. The South Circular Road was laid out in the late eighteenth century to relieve congestion to the city centre and improve access. This portion of the road was not fully developed until a century later when large tracts of land became available following the sale of the Greenville demesne in the 1870s.
