Detached two-storey two-bay house, built c.1840, with attached single-storey outbuilding to east, mono-pitched addition to south, and single-storey porch to north. Hipped artificial slate roof, with angled ridge and hip tiles, central rendered chimneystack, and cast-iron rainwater goods. Pitched natural slate roof to porch, with remains of ridge crestings, and having decorative bargeboards. Unpainted roughcast rendered walls over undercut cement rendered plinth. Square-headed window openings, with smooth rendered reveals, painted masonry sills and generally historic timber six-over-six pane horned sliding sash windows, with uPVC replacement window to porch, and having grilles to ground floor windows. Square-headed door opening, with rendered reveals, and replacement timber panelled door. Outbuilding has mono-pitched artificial slate roof, tall roughcast rendered chimneystack, small plain window and temporary timber door. Set lower than level of road overlooking River Liffey in private gardens, concrete pathway to perimeter of house. Bounded to east and partially to north by roughcast boundary wall with solider rubble coping, partially bounded to roadside by wrought-iron railings and gates.
A traditionally styled nineteenth-century house, set on a pleasant site with mature gardens overlooking the River Liffey opposite Phoenix Park. It is one of several historic houses along this stretch of the Liffey, and adds to the variety and character of the area approaching Chapelizod from the east. It is well maintained to retain an early aspect, retaining historic timber sash windows and detailing.
