Freestanding telephone kiosk, erected c.1950, standing outside former post office in middle of Chapelizod village. Square-plan, of moulded concrete, with moulded top and having plain frieze with inset panel to each face reading 'Telefón' in Gaelic script. Three-by-six-pane windows to all faces, with doorway to southeast face. Lettering 'P & T' in Gaelic script to base of northeast and southwest faces.
The telephone kiosk in the centre of the historic village of Chapelizod is a well-preserved example of earlier telecommunications infrastructure. Its moulded concrete form, while mass produced, has a visual attraction and the Gaelic lettering is emblematic of public services post-Independence.
