Attached five-bay three-storey house, built c.1860, with shopfront to ground floor. Pitched slate roof with rendered chimneystacks and cast-iron rainwater goods. Painted rendered walls with render corbels to eaves. Square-headed openings with two-over-two timber sliding sash windows, render surrounds and render sills. Window openings to first floor central bays with alternating render pedimented and segmental-arched head mouldings supported on decorative render scroll brackets. Render shopfront comprising ruled pilasters and moulded capitals supporting fascia board and cornice with moulded corbels. Square-headed openings with replacement timber paired round-headed fixed pane display windows. Square-headed door opening with replacement overlight and double-leaf timber panelled door. Round-headed door opening (east bay), giving access to upper floors, having moulded render pilasters and archivolt with carved timber framed sidelights and fanlight and timber panelled door.
A pleasing composition distinguished by the finely crafted doorcase, shopfront and window embellishments. The overall character and proportions of the façade are retained in the timber sliding sash windows and render detailing. Its scale and ornamentation provides interest within Bantry’s streetscape.
