Terraced two-bay two-storey house with dormer attic, built c.1880, having shopfront to ground floor. Pitched artificial slate roof with rooflights, rendered chimneystacks and cast-iron rainwater goods. Pebble dashed walls to first floor with rendered sill course and render horizontal and vertical plat bands. Painted smooth rendered walls to ground floor. Square-headed openings with two-over-two timber sliding sash windows. Render shopfront comprising undecorated pilasters, fluted brackets with shamrock motif flanking fascia board and moulded cornice. Square-headed opening with timber casement display window and rendered sill. Square-headed door opening with carved timber panelled door and overlight, with recessed double-leaf timber glazed doors with metal window guards.
The simple proportions of this façade are animated by the render decoration and pebble dashed walls. The Celtic motifs to the shopfront add interest, while the survival of the timber sash windows and well-executed doors contributes positively to the coherence of the façade. This building is a pleasing element in the streetscape of Ballydehob.
