Cast-iron lamp standard, c. 1880, having fluted plinth with floral and swag motifs.
Appraisal
Graceful and functional in design, this lamp standard is also finely detailed, adding artistic interest to the streetscape. Street furniture such as this are becoming increasingly rare in Ireland, and serve as a reminder of public lighting methods before the advent of nationwide electricity.
