Description

T-plan pier, built c. 1840. Limestone battered walls with cast-iron railings. Jetties to east and west elevations having limestone walls with cobbled surface. Concrete piers to south elevation.

Appraisal

Solidly constructed pier indicative of the skill of nineteenth-century builders and engineers. It was on Kennedy Pier, then Admiralty Pier, that the survivors of the sinking of RMS Lusitania disembarked from a flotilla of rescue boats.
