Description

Detached five-bay (three-bay deep) three-storey over part-raised basement bishop's palace, built 1771-9, to designs by Thomas Cooley (1742?-84) of Dublin and London; five-bay three-storey rear (south) elevation. Sold, 1977. Hipped slate roof with rendered chimney stacks and overhanging eaves having paired consoles. Rendered walls. Square-headed central door opening in tripartite arrangement with overpainted cut-limestone doorcase and timber panelled door having fanlight. Square-headed window openings with cut-limestone sills and six-over-six or three-over-three timber sash windows. Interior with timber architraves, doors and shuttersshutters. Outbuildings and walled garden to site.
