Terraced three-bay two-storey building, c. 1875, with triple arcaded and decorated polychromatic brickwork facade; restored, c. 1925; retail unit to ground floor and offices to upper floors. Roof not visible for inspection, parapet with elaborate eaves cornice having limestone string course. Polychromatic brickwork to upper façade. Heavily articulated openings to first floor having limestone pilasters with stiff leaf capitals, moulded archivolts and decorative pediments. Windows to first floor are timber sliding sash one over one, with extended moulded cills and cast iron guardrail. Modified and refenestrated ground floor with later timber shopfront, c. 1990. Separate square headed entrance opening to upper floors, having timber panelled door with plain overlight.
Highly distinctive late nineteenth century building. Significant in its own right, both for its style and decorative use of contrasting materials, and also to the streetscape and general character of this part of the city.
