Description

Terraced three-bay two-storey former house, built c. 1855, now in use as retail outlet. Pitched slate roof with stepped rendered parapet and moulded render eaves course. Rendered walls with recessed blind arches to ground floor openings, string course between floors, and having moulded render surrounds to upper floor openings. Replacement timber casement windows and doors.

Appraisal

This building derives particular significance from it's survival as one of the few mid nineteenth-century houses on Cork's now much altered city quays. The scale and form of the building make it a notable and positive addition to the streetscape. Though many interesting features and materials have been replaced, this building is enhanced by the retention of the slate roof and the decorative render detail.
