Appraisal

This entrance gate makes a positive contribution to the streetscape and it was clearly executed by skilled craftsmen. The fine ashlar limestone piers, ashlar limestone copings and wrought-iron gates contrast with the materials utilised elsewhere in the streetscape. This gate forms part of a group of related structures with the meeting house to the north-west and with the burial ground, former sexton's house and blocked gate to the west.
