Terraced four-bay two-storey house, built c.1820. Now is use as a commercial premises with accommodation over. Pitched artificial slate roof with projecting eaves course and with shared rendered chimneystacks to either end. Ruled-and-line rendered walls over rendered plinth. Square-headed window openings with cut stone sills and one-over-one timber sliding sash windows. Single casement window above door to first floor. Round-headed doorcase with rendered hoodmould over, inset brick rebated surrounds and replacement door with overlight above. Cut limestone steps to base of door. Road-fronted.
An unusual house that retains its early form and character. The brick rebated door surround is a later feature but it fits in well with the earlier original fabric. The rendered hoodmoulding over the doorway is a noteworthy feature that enlivens the front façade of this otherwise plain building. This structure is an integral feature of the streetscape and continues to make a positive contribution to the historic nature of Athlone.
