Freestanding round-plan three-stage windmill, built c.1790. Now ruinous and roofless. Rubble limestone walls. Gauged stone square-headed door openings to south-west and north-east elevations. Square-headed loop window openings above doors to first floor. Socket holes for stairs and position of floors visible to interior. Sited within ringfort.
Although the internal fittings and roof of this former windmill are gone, its walls remain in good condition. Whilst strong evidence of milling and industrial activity can be seen in County Monaghan, windmills are infrequent, making this example all the more significant. Already ruinous by the Ordnance Survey of 1908, it is nonetheless a notable eye-catcher in the landscape, with the surrounding ringfort enhancing its visibility and the overall impact of the site.
