Description

Section of the Boyne Navigation, built c.1790, with ashlar limestone walls to channel. Lock gates no longer in-situ. Former lock keeper's house to site.

Appraisal

This former lock forms an interesting group of related structure with the former canal workers' house and the canal bridge to the south-west. It also forms part of a boarder group with the surviving structures along the canal. Clearly the work of skilled masons, the channel is executed with high quality masonry.
