Detached three-bay single-storey Victorian gate lodge, built c.1850, with castellated front wall. Squared limestone walls. Segmental-arched door opening with ashlar limestone dressing, with recessed entrance porch. Timber panelled door flanked by pilasters and having decorative overlight with diamond pattern tracery. Window openings have tooled limestone sills, red brick surrounds and timber sash windows. Wrought-iron railings and gate to site.
The modest form and scale of this gate lodge is enlivened by the castellated wall to the entrance elevation, and by the angled recessed porch. The building retains many interesting features and materials, such as the brick and limestone dressings, timber sash windows, timber panelled door and decorative overlight. The gate lodge forms part of a group with the demesne related structures of Slane Castle.
