Appraisal

Wellesley Terrace is one of three distinct terraces which form a particularly interesting group in the St Luke’s area. The use of skilfully-executed render embellishments together with the retention of a significant amount of original fabric are of particular note. The separation of the gardens from the houses is noteworthy, and is characteristic of several terraces in the area. The cast-iron railings add further artistic interest to the terrace. One of the houses was the home of the renowned Cork sculptor Seamus Murphy.
