Parnell Square and Rotunda Hospital Conference  

Dublin Civic Trust is presenting Parnell Square and Rotunda Hospital: Evaluating the Historic Urban Landscape as its winter 2018 conference.  The aim of the conference is to highlight the development and history of Parnell Square and the international significance of the surviving urban complex today which features an early example of a purpose-built maternity hospital, private townhouses and public rooms all enclosing the remains of a landscaped square.

Speakers at the conference include James Kelly of the Dublin Civic Trust whose topic is Dublin's North Georgian Core – Its Assets and Potential; Sam Coulter-Smith, former Master of the Rotunda Hospital, who will trace the history of the hospital; Christine Casey whose topic is The Mansions of Rutland Square; and Ellen Rowley who will discuss the Garden of Remembrance.

The Parnell Square and Rotunda Hospital conference will take place in the Pillar Room of the Rotunda Hospital, Parnell Square, Dublin 1, on Thursday 29th November 2018.  Registration begins at 8:50am.  Tickets cost from €40 to €100 and booking is essential.  For more information visit the Dublin Civic Trust website or the conference eventbrite website.
